Meet Dr. David Hendrix
Dr. Hendrix is a Brevard County native who grew up on Merritt Island. Dr. Hendrix graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a bachelors in economics. He then attended Nova Southeastern University where he graduated with honors as a Doctor of Optometry.
He completed his residency in Primary Eye Care and Ocular Disease through the Ohio State University at the VA Medical Center in Hampton Virginia. After finishing his residency Dr. Hendrix remained at the VA Medical Center as a staff doctor before returning to Brevard County in 2003.
Dr. Hendrix special areas of interest include dry eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeration. He believes in treating each of his patients as if they were members of his family and tries to educate and include the patient in the decision making process.
He and his wife have four daughters and our members of Grace United Methodist Church. In his spare time Dr. Hendrix enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and golf.
Meet Dr. Ehret
Dr. Ehret hails from Coffee County, Alabama. She graduated magna cum laude from Troy University in Troy, AL with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL in 2004.
She wanted to be an eye doctor from the time she was eleven years old and was fitted in her first pair of contact lenses. She credits her optometrist for not only helping her vision but changing her life! Dr. Ehret strives to give each patient the individualized attention, patience and concern that led her to this career.
Dr. Ehret is a dedicated optometrist with expertise spanning full-scope optometry, glaucoma management, emergency care, contact lens fittings, ocular surface disease and dry eye management as well as pre/post-surgical care of cataract, cornea, glaucoma and oculoplastics.
Dr. Ehret lives in Merritt Island with her husband, daughter and labradoodle. In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking, paddle boarding, Pilates and visiting her family and farm in Alabama.
Meet Dr. Gauger
Dr. Heather Gauger is a fourth generation Brevard county native and graduated from Rockledge High School. She graduated with Honors from University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Microbiology. She then received her Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University graduating with honors.
She completed her residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease through Nova Southeastern University working alongside multiple specialists throughout South Florida where she further developed a passion for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal conditions.
Dr. Gauger is passionate about delivering the highest standard of care for her patients. With her extensive knowledge of ocular diseases and conditions, Dr. Gauger accurately diagnoses and manages a wide range of eye-related issues, ranging from refractive errors to complex ocular diseases. However, it is not just her expertise that impresses patients. It is her gentle demeanor and genuine concern for her patients that truly set her apart.
Dr. Gauger lives on Merritt Island with her husband and two children. She loves Jesus, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys traveling.
Meet Dr. Zermeno
Dr. Zermeno was raised in Melbourne, Florida and attended Eau Gallie High, Brevard Community College, University of Central Florida, and received her Doctorate from Nova Southeast-ern University with honors. Her residency was done in Atlanta, Georgia with an emphasis in Glaucoma.
As part of her residency she participated in several Glaucoma studies as an Investigator. Dr. Zermeno is also the published author of a children’s book called “I SEE” by Dr. Z.
Dr. Zermeno’s true passion is helping people with their vision. She has been on several mission
trips to Central America. As an attending preceptor, Dr. Zermeno oversaw students, from Nova Southeastern University’s Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, on trips to Nicaragua and Honduras where she and her team provided eye care and glasses to impoverished areas of the country. In her spare time, Dr. Zermeno enjoys going to the beach and spending time with family that includes her cat, Jingle, and many nieces and nephews. She is also a fan of classical music and will occasionally play a round of golf when her busy schedule permits.
